Nicole A Wheeler George
Nicole Wheeler George is a Senior Fluvial Geomorphologist, based in Brisbane and forms the lead for Streamology in Queensland. She specialises in river and catchment processes, geomorphic assessment and waterway rehabilitation. Her work focuses on translating an understanding of how river systems function and evolve into practical, nature-based solutions for healthier and more resilient waterways.
Nicole has experience across Australia and internationally, working on projects spanning catchment-scale geomorphic assessment, river rehabilitation, erosion and sediment management, waterway design, remote sensing and spatial analysis. Her academic research applied the River Styles Framework to assess geomorphic sensitivity to align river management priorities in New Zealand.
Nicole is also Vice President of the River Basin Management Society (RBMS) and is passionate about connecting science, practitioners and communities to improve how we understand, manage and restore river systems in a changing climate.
