Joanne Burton
Joanne is highly experienced in biogeochemistry, environmental tracing, and landscape processes, with over 20 years of dedicated service across government, academic institutions, and Natural Resource Management (NRM) organisations. She has played a pivotal role in translating cutting-edge scientific knowledge into practical applications for policy, planning, and catchment management.
A seasoned project manager and team leader, Joanne co-led the development of key frameworks including the Queensland River Rehabilitation Management Guidelines, the Queensland Aquatic Ecosystem Rehabilitation Process, and the Queensland River Classification Scheme. Currently, she serves as the Director of Resilient Rivers South East Queensland, an initiative of Council of Mayors (SEQ) where she continues to drive impactful environmental strategies with the aim to improve SEQ making it the best place to live, work and play.
