Ros O'Connell
Ros O’Connell is a Catchment Management Officer with the City of Gold Coast, where she leads and supports projects focused on river restoration, waterway health, and integrated catchment management. She has extensive experience delivering aquatic monitoring programs, catchment health assessments, and restoration initiatives, including the Luscombe Weir Removal Project on the Albert River. Her work spans water quality, hydrology, geomorphology, fish passage, environmental DNA (eDNA), and the development of indicators and reporting frameworks used to guide investment and management decisions. Ros has contributed to major river rehabilitation, riparian restoration, and waterway connectivity projects, working collaboratively with a wide range of stakeholders. Her professional interests centre on restoring natural river processes, improving ecosystem resilience, and applying science-based approaches to catchment management and waterway recovery.
