Mehran Khan
A PhD candidate at the School of Natural Science at Macquarie University, with research focused on hydrological modelling and simulation to evaluate Natural Flood Management (NFM) strategies in multi-tributary catchments. Doctoral work investigates surrogate discharge modelling and the mechanisms of peak flow desynchronisation and attenuation at tributary–trunk stream confluences, aiming to improve understanding of flood wave dynamics and downstream flood amplification.
Holds a Bachelor's and Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Engineering and Technology, Peshawar, Pakistan. Master’s research examined streamflow forecasting under climate change by integrating physically based hydrological models with machine learning approaches to enhance prediction accuracy in complex river basins.
Research interests include catchment-scale flood modelling, stream resilience, climate change impacts on hydrological extremes, and sustainable water resource management to support evidence-based flood risk reduction strategies.
